US Banks Involving with Online Payday Loanders in USA, Broken Federal Laws

Oklahoma City
There are several banks that have been accused of becoming involved in the online payday loans, short term loans that are offered via internet and also include high interest rates. The Online payday loans are not actually offered directly by banks but they may allow the companies that offer supposedly rapacious payday loans access to customer accounts that possibly in violation of Consumer Protection Laws.

In several states in US the online payday loans are illegal but there is more number of cities where it is legal and customers of all those states are applying
online with quick approval and without credit checking. One thing is constant that is the expectation of repayment of the loan with the consumer’s next pay check. Usually the interest rates on these loans are 500% and even further. Moreover if the customers do not indicate regarding the repayment of the loan amount on due time then the lender renew the loan to the next month, withdrawing the interest payment only. Not only has this but there may also other financial charges and extra fees that gets added to the repayment amount and turn into a large money that becomes so tough to repay.

In an Article, it was clearly mentioned that big banks may enable payday loan lenders access to borrower’s bank accounts in order to make the withdrawals. These banks don’t provide payday loans online by themselves but they provide the means for the payday loan companies to do the business. So these payday loan companies are able to withdraw money from customer’s bank account that pushes the customer into overdraft and insufficient funds fees. Most of the times, these banks also allow the lenders to withdraw the money from borrower’s bank account even after the customer said them not to do that which is the Violation of Federal Law.

As per the report published in Feb 2013, 27 percent of the payday loan borrowers were forced into bank account overdrafts during year 2012. The officials are now checking the roles of major banks that are associated in online payday loans and whether these banks are making it possible for such lenders to offer loans in the states too where these loans are illegal. Banks may be getting profits on this allegedly illegal activity if the automatic loan withdrawals push the customer into overdraft, resulting in bank fees being charged.
Summary

The Payday Loans are helpful but also comes with some cons as well. Banks are involving with payday lenders and some sources said regarding the violation of Law by providing the automatic access and withdrawal of money from borrower’s account without their permission.
